Robert is a co-founder and lead instructor at Paragon of Jiu Jitsu in Wilmington, North Carolina, where he lives with his wife, Susan. He has two children Blake (18) and Madelyn (22), both of whom are blue belts in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Robert was promoted to black belt by Guilherme Mendes of AOJ (Art of Jiu Jitsu) and has been training and competing in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (IBJJF Charlotte Open and Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championship) since 2011. He has coached numerous adult and youth competitors to local, state, and national championships during this time.
After 22 years of service, Robert retired from the United States Probation Office in July 2021. He served as a lead firearms and unarmed self-defense instructor during his tenure. As such, he brings a wealth of professional instructing experience to Paragon of Jiu Jitsu. When he is not on the mats, Robert enjoys spending time with his family and friends, attending sporting events, and traveling.
